Last week of summer

My mom has Keyra for the week, so we have some time with just Trinity.  Baseball playoffs are here, so I am not sure how much time I will have, or what we will do with it yet.  We are going to head to Ottawa for the weekend to get Keyra and do a few things fun up there before coming back home and getting ready for school to start.

Birthday Party

Trinity had her birthday party on Saturday.  It was at Putt and Blast.  They got mini golf and laser tag plus pizza and cake.  The kids all had fun.  For her birthday this year, she decided that she would take donations for the Animal Shelter.  So, she got lots of dog food, toys and treats.  We will take her to drop the stuff off this week.  I am sure she will be happy to donate much needed supplies, however, I am sure she will be sad for the animals that are there.  I know I would be too.  I am sure that if I went in there, I would not be able to come out of there without at least 2 dogs.  Anyway, it is a great cause, and she has far too many toys and stuff anyway.  We did buy her 2 DVDs though.  Disney Earth and Disney Oceans.  She has been really into watching BBC Life, Planet Earth and Blue Planet lately, so we thought this would be a nice small reward for her.  Trinity and Keyra are both retaining so much of the information that they learn from those documentaries.  I am so glad that they are both nerds like their mom and I.

Upper Canada Village

We took the kids to Upper Canada Village on Saturday.  We met Stacey and Graham there.  Trinity had done a big project this year in school on the Loyalists Settlers, so we thought this might be a neat thing for her to see.  It really is like stepping back in time to the 1860s.  I know this is much after the Loyalists first landed, but it still shows their way of life not long after coming here.  The girls really enjoyed taking everything in and seeing how they made simple things in the old days.  Their minds are little sponges for sure.  They did get to milk a cow and have a horse drawn wagon ride during the day as well as play some old time games like ball in a cup.  Trinity was especially interested in the school house as that was exactly what her project entailed.  She had to recreate a school house from that period of time, and the one at Upper Canada Village was a near replica.  At the end of the day we had dinner at Kelsey's in Brockville with Stacey and Graham and then made a quick stop in at a friend's BBQ in Camden East before the sky let loose and chased us home.

Happy 9th Birthday Trinity

Today is Trinity's 9th birthday.  We are keeping it low key today as we are actually having the birthday party next Saturday.  Gramma and Chuck are coming down today for dinner and cake.  Tomorrow we are meeting Stacey and Graham at Upper Canada Village.  I am sure it will be a lot of fun.

They were back!

We got the girls back on Saturday morning.  They were very tired from a long week with grandma in the north country.  They had lots of stories about swimming in the lake with their masks on and seeing all kinds of fish.  Trinity described one as having long whiskers.  I told her it must have been a mudcat/catfish and she agreed.  I am glad they had fun.  The house was very quiet without them.  We had a lazy day on Sunday.  Trinity is really getting into the BBC Life series.  If you are going to get it, get the one that is narrated by David Attenborough.  He is the original narrator, and is much better than Oprah.  She is learning quite a bit by watching these, so I imagine that she will want to watch BBC Planet Earth and Blue Planet next.  Keyra watches a little bit and has tons of questions, that they answer for her 30 seconds later.  She then gets bored and runs off to play on Webkinz or with Barbies

Now, they are gone to Ange's dad and Vickie's house in Cherry Valley for a couple of days.  I am sure they will get lots of swimming in out there.

Summer Camping

The girls are camping this week with grandma in the north country on Marble Lake.  I am sure they are having fun.  They are coming home this Saturday with lots of stories to tell, no doubt.

First post

I am going to use this blog to sort of chronicle my life with my 2 beautiful daughters and the things that we do together.  Maybe, one day, they will find this blog and they can reflect back on it and the times that we all shared.

As of right now, my daughter, Keyra, is 5 years old.  Although she is rough and tumble, she is still a little princess at heart.  Trinity is just about to turn 9.  She is a highly competitive gymnast and will be competing for the first time this year.  I am actually looking forward to seeing a competition as up to this point, it has only been training time.
