Upper Canada Village
We took the kids to Upper Canada Village on Saturday. We met Stacey and Graham there. Trinity had done a big project this year in school on the Loyalists Settlers, so we thought this might be a neat thing for her to see. It really is like stepping back in time to the 1860s. I know this is much after the Loyalists first landed, but it still shows their way of life not long after coming here. The girls really enjoyed taking everything in and seeing how they made simple things in the old days. Their minds are little sponges for sure. They did get to milk a cow and have a horse drawn wagon ride during the day as well as play some old time games like ball in a cup. Trinity was especially interested in the school house as that was exactly what her project entailed. She had to recreate a school house from that period of time, and the one at Upper Canada Village was a near replica. At the end of the day we had dinner at Kelsey's in Brockville with Stacey and Graham and then made a quick stop in at a friend's BBQ in Camden East before the sky let loose and chased us home.
